chilly nilly willy.....or not

Chilly....nilly...willy!!!
(Air & pool mid-70's and raining!!)
BUT....not nearly as cold as I had expected....

I rode to the pool in a gentle but steady rain...
Almost there, my chain....did not come off but....got stuck, which has happened a couple of times before and my son showed me an easy way to unjam it, but in my frustration, in the rain, I could not remember....
Paused...
I could either walk the rest of the way to the pool, or I could turn around and walk home....my choice....
I turned around to walk home....

BUT NO! I turned right back around and walked the rest of the way to the pool! Karen, go swim!!!! Never the wrong decision!
The lifeguards were bundled in their hoodies....a few die-hards getting out of the pool were hugging themselves and saying it was very cold....

BUT....I guess I'd anticipated the worst, and as I slipped into the pool, I thought, "Not bad"...

Sooo......

100 scy's breast warm-up
750 scy's free (15 minutes)
Switch to long course:
3200 lcm's freeeeee......yay! (under 80 minutes)
Pause...
1000 lcm's freeeee.....felt way too good to stop....(25 minutes)
100 lcm's breast cool-down

My forehead, my nose, and my toes were a little bit cold, but my core was fine; I wore a Sporti one-piece, long-sleeve, front zip-up for the first time, and it was quite comfy with no slipping or chafing...

I always say I do my best thinking while I'm swimming.....the easy fix for my chain came to me after just a few lengths....

A really good, strong, efficient swim...

One of the lifeguards said, "Um...Young Lady...." (I liked that he called me "Young Lady")...."You've used up your limit for today! he teased, as they were closing the pool for lunch hour. "You are like the energizer bunny!"
And I said, "With cancer in my lung!"

Anyways.....

I quickly and with ease fixed my chain and rode away....
Parked my bike and picked up a prescription and some (more!!) photos at Walgreens....the obscure sun was hanging low...
Rode the rest of the way home in the rain again....

I guess we've transitioned into what some people here call our "winter" though, being from New England, I cannot really call temps in the 70's "winter." I certainly prefer the endless warmth and sunshine of our "summer" months, but I also know that many days during the "winter" are very sunny and summer-like, and some days are like today, especially on my side of the island (heard it was sunny and warm in Honolulu/Waikiki today)...are cooler and wetter....

Mostly everything in this life is temporary; I've told my kids, if you do not like what is happening, hang on...it is temporary and will soon enough change; if you do like what is happening, savor it...it, too, is temporary and will change. You must adapt.  They are very good adapters.

Mary My Wonderful Therapist (MMWT) says I am really great at adapting...changing....she says I've never stopped growing....
I think that she is correct.

Feeling stoked and, as always, exceedingly grateful. This swim knocked me right out of my temporary funk, but I know that I must swim again and again...keep swimming...to keep the funk...that is always lurking and ready to pounce or sneak in.... AT BAY.....AT BAY....
